Countdown Begins – Weekend of May 7, 2001

June 9, 2011

We’d noticed for well over a month that Queenie was getting more tired more often, that she was slurring her words badly, she was always cold, even wearing a sweater when it was 78 degrees outside.  She was staying in her wheelchair pretty much 24/7, not eating much, just really out of sorts. In the weeks prior, we’d been encouraging her to contact the neuro’s office. we finally got her an appointment on Monday 5/10/11. What she didn’t know was that by this weekend, we pretty much knew that she was going to be admitted, but it was just a matter of getting her there. We’d convinced her to “pack a bag” for Monday’s appointment just in case & she spent the weekend alternating between sleeping & being anxious. Queenie was definitely NOT being herself – she barely yelled at anyone the entire weekend and I think only flipped me the bird once.
